Loro Piana remains the cloth our clients return to most often. Its appeal rests not on the name alone, but on the experience of the fabric once it has been made into a garment: softness with purpose, colour used with judgement, and comfort that preserves the clarity of the cut.
For Fall/Winter 2026–27, five Loro Piana Fabrics books have arrived at Michel’s Bespoke. Three are new additions to the textile anthology: Blazers 783, A World of Colours Cotton & Cashmere 784 and Jersey 785, while Proposte Giacche 786 and Proposte Abiti 787 form the season’s limited jacket and suiting proposals.
The collection is best understood not as a hierarchy, but as five distinct answers to five different wardrobe needs.

A jacket with its own identity
783 Blazers
Blazers 783 is devoted entirely to the standalone jacket. The fabrics move through cashmere, wool, baby camel hair and blends, with weights from 240 to 400 grams per metre. Smooth and beaver finishes sit alongside varied textures, mélange shades and solid colours.
The purpose of the book is clear. These are fabrics intended to give a jacket enough character to be worn independently, rather than as the separated half of a suit. In Italian terms, the collection belongs naturally to spezzato: jacket and trousers chosen to work together without matching.
That distinction matters. A useful blazer must have presence, but it also needs range. It should sit comfortably with tailored trousers, flannel, cotton or denim, and feel appropriate across business, travel and less formal occasions. Cotton and cashmere in two weights
784 A World of Colours
A World of Colours Cotton & Cashmere 784 takes a different approach. Its foundation is a cotton-and-cashmere composition offered across two weights, from 250 to 390 grams per metre, for suits, jackets and trousers.
Cotton gives the cloth definition and everyday usefulness. Cashmere brings a softer handle. That balance is especially effective for trousers and chinos, where cotton provides useful structure for regular wear and cashmere softens the handle. Loro Piana describes the fabrics as durable and breathable, with a palette that moves from vibrant modern colour to more neutral and established shades. The book can therefore support a monochromatic suit, a single coloured jacket, or a more personal combination of separates.
The two-weight structure is particularly relevant in Toronto. A fall and winter wardrobe must often account for heated interiors, transitional weather and travel between climates as much as the cold itself. Choosing the appropriate weight is more useful than treating every winter cloth as though it must be heavy.
Colour also works best when it has a role. A deep, restrained shade can extend the usefulness of an existing wardrobe; a lighter or more expressive tone can give a jacket its identity. The aim is not colour for effect, but colour chosen with enough judgement to be worn often.
Movement built into the cloth
785 Jersey
Jersey 785 is the most distinct construction in the group. Rather than using the warp-and-weft structure of a conventional woven fabric, jersey is knitted from a continuous strand of yarn. That construction gives the cloth two-way stretch and allows it to respond naturally to movement.
The collection includes cashmere, wool and blends in weights from 270 to 435 grams per metre. Loro Piana positions the book for suits, jackets and trousers, with solid shades, patterns, varied textures and different finishes.
Its value lies in what the wearer feels. A jersey garment can retain the intention of tailoring while offering a more yielding handle and a less rigid relationship with the body. It is especially compelling for men who want clothes that remain composed through travel, long working days and informal settings without resembling conventional sportswear.
This is comfort expressed through the cloth itself. The result still depends on proportion, balance and the intended garment; softness alone is never the whole answer.
The seasonal proposals: Proposte Giacche and Proposte Abiti
786 Proposte Giacche
Proposte Giacche 786 is the limited Fall/Winter proposal for blazers and patterned jackets. Its fabrics range from 280 to 460 grams per metre, moving through pure wool, wool-and-silk and wool-and-cashmere compositions, as well as an alpaca-rich blend. The range includes lighter jacketing alongside more substantial winter cloths, allowing the character of the jacket to be determined by both surface and weight.
Its garment purpose remains the most useful starting point. Proposte Giacche is for the client who wants surface, pattern or seasonal character in a jacket, with the final choice made by considering how the cloth will sit beside the trousers, knitwear and shirts already in his wardrobe. 787 Proposte Abiti
Proposte Abiti 787 is the suiting counterpart. This limited seasonal proposal spans 250 to 440 grams per metre, from pure wool and superfine merino to wool blended with silk, cashmere or linen, alongside natural-stretch constructions. The range is interpreted specifically for contemporary Fall/Winter suits.
Where Proposte Giacche allows a jacket to stand apart, Proposte Abiti asks the fabric to carry an entire suit. The requirements are different: the cloth must work across jacket and trousers, support a coherent silhouette and remain suitable for the circumstances in which the suit will be worn.
The choice between the two is therefore not a question of which book is more elevated. It is a question of whether the commission begins with a complete suit or an independent jacket.
Choosing the cloth before choosing the statement
Taken together, the five books cover a wide range of contemporary tailoring needs: the independent blazer, colour-led separates, knitted comfort, seasonal jacketing and seasonal suiting.
The right choice, however, remains personal. Will the garment be worn weekly or only occasionally? Does it need to travel well? Will it be worn mainly indoors? What does the wardrobe already contain, and what is currently missing?
This is where viewing the cloth in person matters. Weight can be listed, but handle must be felt. Colour changes under natural and artificial light. A pattern that appears prominent in a photograph may become much quieter once it is cut and worn. The right choice emerges from the relationship between cloth, garment and wearer.
